'Yellowjackets' Star Announces Big Season 3 Update

Cameras might start rolling again very soon on the new season of "Yellowjackets."

Fans are eager for the third season of the hit Showtime series about a high school girls soccer team that crashed in the Canadian wilderness.

The show follows two timelines - the crash timeline and current day - and it's been a very dark, gritty and engaging series since it first premiered in November 2021.

Season two wrapped up May 2023 with an outstanding cliffhanger in the crash timeline, and fans have been asking one simple question:

When will season three arrive?

"Yellowstone" star offers update on season three.

While that remains unknown, it does appear production on the new season is imminent and could start in the very near future, according to star Samantha Hanratty, who plays Misty.

"We're not filming yet. We're going back very soon, which I'm very excited and I'm so ready to get the show on the road literally. Like, it's going to be fun. But I'm going to be dirty. We're going to be so dirty without our cabin. So, wish us luck," Hanratty told The Hollywood Reporter over the weekend at the People's Choice Awards.

With Hanratty letting people know production will start soon, the next question everyone will have is when season three will premiere.

Great question, and I think we can make a pretty educated guess. For the sake of argument, production starts in March and finishes at some point in May or June. There would then need to be a post-production and marketing period that definitely wouldn't wrap up until maybe November.

That means the best case scenario is a late November/early December season three return for "Yellowjackets." Not ideal, but certainly not the worst wait.

However, that's a timeline where everything goes according to plan. What about one where things get delayed? Fans will quickly be looking at a 2025 return, and that's something *NOBODY* will be happy about. Let's hope it doesn't happen.
