'Yellowjackets' Star Drops Hints About Darkness Of New Season

Is it possible for "Yellowjackets" to get even darker in season three?

The hit Showtime show is currently in the process of getting the third season written so that cameras can start rolling sooner than later.

It's not known when season three will premiere. An educated guess indicates it will likely be very late 2024 or early 2025. What I do know is fans can't wait to see what happens next after an incredible season two ending and cliffhanger.

Well, it certainly sounds like viewers are in for a lot of chaos and a very dark journey.

Will "Yellowjackets" go even darker with season three?

The series about a soccer team that crashes in the Canadian wilderness and their lives decades later is already insanely dark. It's like "Lord of the Flies" meets "Lost" on steroids. Somehow, it might even go darker with season three, judging from some comments from star Melanie Lynskey.

"I just had a conversation with them (the writers) like a week ago, with our writers about the course of the season. I mean, I do know, one of them said ‘Things are going to get very dark for Shauna’ and I was like, 'Get?!' I don’t— that’s—," Lynskey told Collider when talking about what's coming in the new season.

This should be music to the ears of fans. The first two seasons have been outrageously dark, especially the timeline in the 1990s when the women are stuck in the wilderness.

There's nothing to smile about in that timeline. The current timeline when they're all adults is a bit less serious, but still dark. If the series is only going to get darker with season three, then fans are in for a truly insane time.

"Yellowjackets" turned into a surprise hit when it was released November 2021, and it hasn't slowed down since. The series is the definition of a show that keeps viewers guessing and is constantly throwing out twists and turns. Without spoiling anything, the end of season two cranked up the stakes in the timeline in the wilderness. I can't wait to see what comes next.
