'Yellowjackets' Fans Hit With Disappointing Season 3 Update

"Yellowjackets" fans shouldn't expect to see new episodes in the near future.

Season two wrapped up May 2023, and left fans with an absolutely brutal ending and cliffhanger. Viewers are desperate to find out what happens next.

However, it might be a long time before fans return to the hit Showtime series that's a mix of "Lord of the Flies" and "Lost."

Executive producers Ashley Lyle, Jonathan Lisco and Bart Nickerson were asked by Deadline during the Emmy Awards when season three might premiere, and Nickerson indicated "early next year" is the likely target for new episodes to drop.

Not a great update at all. Having to wait until 2025 is a very long time seeing as how the show ended in the first half of 2024.

I was hoping new episodes would drop in 2024. It appears there's now zero chance of that happening.

"Yellowjackets" has turned into a massive hit.

You're really missing out if you're not watching "Yellowjackets." It's a hell of a show that follows a group of teenagers who crashed in the Canadian wilderness.

There's two timelines. The one in the 1990s when the crash happened and the current timeline when the characters are adults.

It's unbelievably dark and sinister, and just like any other great sci-fi/paranormal series, nothing is as it appears on the surface.

Season two ended with an insane final episode that I won't spoil here. All I'll say is that whatever comes next should be absolutely wild.

My only complaint with "Yellowjackets" is that it spent a bit too much time in the current timeline in season two. Everyone wants to see what happens in the wilderness. That's the timeline that makes the show great.

It does a great job of portraying what would happen when people are pushed to their limits with nothing to lose. I really hope the show focuses on that as much as possible in season three.

We'll see what happens moving forward, but having to wait until 2025 is a bit of a bummer. Nobody likes long breaks, but as long as it's worth it, then people won't complain too much. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
