Electric Preview Released For New Horror-Comedy Series, Features Grade-A Star: WATCH

"Widow's Bay" premieres April 29 on Apple TV.

Apple TV's upcoming horror-comedy series "Widow's Bay" looks like it's going to be outstanding.

Basic info:

  • Streaming platform: Apple TV
  • Plot: "Widow’s Bay" is a quaint island town 40 miles off the coast of New England. But something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no Wi-Fi, spotty cellular reception and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true, start happening again. "Widow’s Bay" blends genuine horror with character-driven comedy.
  • Cast: Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root and Kingston Rumi Southwick
  • Release date: April 29, 2026.

Apple releases "Widow's Bay" trailer.

There's something about a horror story playing out in a small town that just hits differently. I'm not sure I can even explain why. It's simply an awesome setting. "Storm of the Century" and "Midnight Mass" are two great examples.

Now, Apple is taking a stab at a similar project with "Widow's Bay," but it likely won't be nearly as dark as those series.

This one has a bit of a comedic twist. Give the preview a watch below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

I think it's 100 percent fair to say this preview looks outstanding. What's not to love about a dark horror story with a bit of a comedy flair?

Plus, Matthew Rhys is an outstanding actor with some amazing credits to his name. His performance in "The Americans" is next-level great.

It was one of the most impressive performances in modern TV history. Now, he's pivoting to a different genre with Apple TV.

His presence alone is reason enough to be excited for "Widow's Bay."

You can catch "Widow's Bay" starting April 29 on Apple TV. Make sure to send me your thoughts on the preview at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
