Teacher Goes Viral For Perfectly Handling Student Accusing J.K. Rowling Of Being A Bigot

A teacher in Massachusetts has gone viral for his handling of a student who accused J.K. Rowling of being bigoted.

The "Harry Potter" author has faced heat from the woke mob because she believes men and women are biologically different - an undeniable fact.

Her standing up for women's rights and women's spaces has made her a target, but to her credit, she has refused to yield an inch. She continues to be a firm voice for women.

Teacher used J.K. Rowling exchange to teach critical thinking.

A viral Twitter video viewed more than 42.8 million times shows a teacher identified as Warren Smith engaging in a discussion with a student who asked, "Do you still like [J.K. Rowling's] work, despite her bigoted opinions?"

It was off to the races from there, and Smith surgically broke down the argument that Rowling is a bigot without doing it in a way that minimized or spoke down to the student.

"So, let's get specific though. Let's define bigoted opinions. What opinions are bigoted? We're going to treat this as a thought experiment. I'm not going to say what's right or wrong or which way to think. The whole point is to learn how to think - not what to think," Smith started during his discussion with the student.

The student attempted to allege that Rowling "has had a history of being extremely transphobic." Smith wasn't letting him off the hook that easily. He broke it down step by step about what might or might not be transphobic.

By the end of the discussion, the student appears to have done a complete flip. Watch the incredible exchange below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Smith also revealed to Piers Morgan that the tape came out accidentally and was never intended for public viewing or debate.

"We have interactions like this on a daily basis. This one just happened to be captured on camera," Smith explained. Well, good thing it did come out because it's awesome and something every young person should watch.

He also added, "I think that's why the video resonated. You see in real-time a transformation with a beginning, middle and an end. And he does come to a realization, and the realization is larger than J.K. Rowling. This is about more than J.K. Rowling. It's the realization that his prior assumptions, he was going off, 'Well, I've heard that this is true. So many people have told me this is true.' And when you experience that for yourself and it crumbles, then you have to question logically, 'What else am I assuming to be true that perhaps might not be?' And that changes the way you view the world."

You can watch his full interview with Morgan below.

Smith deserves to be applauded.

Warren Smith handled the entire situation like a complete pro, and it should now be the gold standard moving forward when it comes to educating young people on how to critically think.

He didn't shout down or yell at the student. He simply asked some very simple questions. If you're going to accuse someone of being a bigot, then you better be able to define it and back it up with evidence.

Smith lightly pushed the student to think critically, and his argument about the "Harry Potter" creator completely collapsed. It was beautiful to watch unfold.

There's also no reason to shame the student. Young people are going to say stupid things and hold irrational opinions. That's part of growing up. I definitely made some arguments when I was 16 that logically didn't add up now that I can look back nearly 16 years later.

Instead of just crushing the kid, Smith took him on a journey of enlightenment and allowed growth to happen right in front of everyone's eyes.

Props to Smith for his handling of the situation. The world needs more of his spirit and attitude. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
