Two Frontloaders Battle It Out In The Street During Crazy Police Chase

A police chase involving a frontloader isn't something that you see every day.  Neither is a second frontloader getting in on the action and then the two frontloaders battling it out in the streets.

Well, it happened in Georgia last weekend, making for a police chase close to the level of craziness as the O.J. Simpson white Bronco one.  There were in this instance far fewer bystanders, but the slow speed chase following the heavy piece of machinery around has its own intricacies.

According to the Gwinnett County Police, officers were called to a local waste management business around 11:00 am on March 23 over a dispute.  The first officer on the scene quickly found out that a former employee had stolen one of the company's frontloaders and was driving it around on the property.

The approximately 75,000 pound piece of equipment was then driven onto a nearby road after the officer attempted and failed to stop it.  Officers from the Norcross Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol assisted with the chase as the driver navigated the frontloader through traffic.

With their attempts to stop the frontloader being unsuccessful, officers enlisted the help of a trash truck and another frontloader.  They escorted the two large vehicles to the fleeing frontloader.

Officers then blocked traffic as the two frontloaders did battle in the street.  Because the good guys always win, and crime doesn't pay, the stolen vehicle was eventually flipped onto its side.  Officers then pounced on and arrested the thieving former employee, 38-year-old Eddie Sanchez.

This Insane Frontloader Police Chase Could Have Ended Much Differently

After his arrest, Sanchez was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.  He was then booked into the Gwinnett County Jail, where he was charged with criminal trespass, theft by taking, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, criminal damage to property 2nd degree, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

Not a bad morning if his goal was to rack up several charges for himself.  Sanchez was fired in September 2023 and police learned after the incident that this wasn't his first frontloader joyride.

He had pulled a similar stunt several days before hitting the streets and winding up behind bars.  In his test run, if you will, he never left the business' property.

Remarkably, police said that during the wild police chace that nobody was injured and that there were no vehicles or patrol cars damaged.  All's well that ends well.
