New Trailer Drops For 'Twister' Remake With Hollywood Star: VIDEO

A second trailer is out for the "Twister" remake, and the movie definitely looks interesting.

The plot of the remake - titled "Twisters" - starring Glen Powell is described as follows:

Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos, In the Heights) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.

New trailer drops for "Twisters."

Generally speaking, I'm very anti-remake. In fact, I'd argue very few remakes turn out to be smart ideas. Many bomb and spit on the legacy of the original content.

The greatest example of this is the 2012 "Red Dawn" remake. The 1984 film is a classic. It's my favorite movie, and I keep a DVD of it in my set's background. The remake is so bad that I just pretend it doesn't exist.

Now, the 1996 classic with Bill Paxton (RIP) is getting a remake with Powell leading the way. As much as I'd like to say the trailer looks horrible, it really doesn't.

It looks like the definition of an easy-watching popcorn flick. Plus, Powell has been on a solid run lately. He's starred in "Top Gun: Maverick," "Devotion" and "Anyone but You." Now, he's going to be the face of one of the biggest movies of the summer.

Will "Twisters" live up to the hype? Fans will find out when it premieres in theaters July 19. As much as I'd like to crush the fact a remake is being made, I just can't do it until I see the movie. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
