Tua Tagovailoa Plays Guitar With Dolphins-Loving Darius Rucker On 'Wagon Wheel' At Vegas Party

You never know what you might see in Las Vegas — especially with the Super Bowl in town. We've got football players, we've got musicians, we've got football players moonlighting as musicians!

Tua Tagovailoa grabbed his guitar and hit the stage at the House of Blues with Darius Rucker on Thursday night for a special performance of the hit song "Wagon Wheel." And the crowd was loving it.

As a Nashville resident, I'd be fine going the rest of my life without watching a bar full of people jump up and down screaming the lyrics to "Wagon Wheel" ever again. But it's a cool moment for the QB, nonetheless.

The performance was part of The 99 Club Madden Bowl after party — sponsored by EA Sports and the NFLPA. The Miami Dolphins quarterback hosted this year's event, with Rucker serving as the featured entertainment. Grammy Award-winning producer and rapper Hit-Boy also made an appearance.

"I’m starting the off-season by trying to increase my overall next season any way I can," Tagovailoa, rated an 88 in Madden 24, said in a cheesy press release to advertise the event. "No doubt my hosting skills will earn me a 99 rating, for sure."

Let's just focus on winning a playoff game, Tua.

Tua Tagovailoa Shows Off His Musical Skills

The Tua-Rucker collaboration shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. They've been teasing it for a couple of months now.

Tagovailoa busted out his guitar during ESPN's ManningCast during Week 13's Bengals-Jaguars game in early December. During the appearance, the Pro Bowler played a portion of the Eric Clapton classic "Tears in Heaven" while Peyton Manning sang play-by-play in the background.

A Dolphins fan account tweeted a video of the performance, saying, "So @dariusrucker I think we need you and @tua in the studio for a jam session after the season."

Rucker responded: "I'm in."

Rucker is a huge Miami fan, even working the heavily-relatable lyrics "I'm such a baby ‘cause the Dolphins make me cry" into his 1994 hit "Only Wanna Be With You." And it seems like Tua is really leaning into this off-the-field musical hobby. So who knows? This might not be the last time the two make beautiful music together.

I can't wait for the album to drop: Tua-tie and the Blowfish!

I'll see myself out.
