'True Detective' Fans Revolt After Major News Announcement: REACTIONS

"True Detective" fans are livid after news was announced the show will return.

Generally speaking, a show being renewed for another season is great news for fans. Why wouldn't you be pumped about a show returning?

That's just simply not the case for many "True Detective" fans following news Issa Lopez will return to make season five after "Night Country" concluded on HBO.

"True Detective" fans are in open revolt.

As I've said many times, I enjoyed the new season. Many did not. Many viewers hated it, and it seems like they're confident season five won't be any different as long as Lopez is involved.

• I wonder if it’s because it’s generating clicks, we’re part of the problem.

• Yep, it always happens... S4 was so bad it ascended to meme levels, amazing for clicks and views but completely mortgaged the series future to get em. • I'm surprised the news of it getting renewed came out so fast. I suspect Nic Pizzolatto complains might have contributed a bit to this decision, I mean, next sh*tty season will just be rage-baiting garbage and mediocre writing. Or it will be aimed to capitalize using more "culture war" BS.

• I only came back to this turd franchise because of Jodie and they even managed to sully her.

Again, I didn't even hate season four. I actually enjoyed it. Were there a few cringe moments? Sure, but enough to cause this kind of backlash? I'd say no, but there's also a lot of people out there who clearly disagree with me.
