'True Detective' Star Beefs With Show's Creator After Controversial Ending

"True Detective" has exploded into an all-out slapfight between the show's creator and a "Night Country" star.

The fourth season of the hit HBO series wrapped up this past Sunday, and opinions were very split on the finale (no spoilers here!). Many people enjoyed it. Lots of people also hated it. There wasn't much middle ground.

People appear to be firmly in one camp or the other…….and it's not a secret where series creator Nic Pizzolatto falls:

He thinks season four was a joke.

Nic Pizzolatto sparks "True Detective" war.

Pizzolatto is responsible for creating the "True Detective" saga and personally ran the first three seasons. The first season is considered by many to be the single greatest season of TV ever made.

He previously opined during season four that he didn't have anything to do with it, and really ratcheted things up after the controversial and polarizing finale.

Pizzolatto re-shared multiple messages on his Instagram story slamming the new season as trash, according to Uproxx. Below is one of many examples. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Well, Pizzolatto lobbing nukes at the new season and its ending didn't sit well with Kali Reis, who played one of the two lead detectives in season four.

The former boxer turned actress tweeted, "That’s a damn shame…but hey I guess "if you don’t have anything good to share, shit on others" is the new wave."

Boom! Roasted!

Inject this drama into our veins!

This level of pettiness from Nic Pizzolatto is honestly hilarious. He's been very rich for a long time, is responsible for the greatest season of TV ever (and a very strong third season), and instead of just riding off into the sunset and ignoring season four, he busted out a flamethrower and took it right to "Night Country."

Imagine how upset he must be at the ending in order to publicly re-share comments about how horrible it is. The man is on the warpath lobbing missiles left and right.

How does Reis respond? Does she just ignore his (childish?) outburst? No, she fires up her own social media and starts firing back.

Is this "True Detective" or the lead up to a UFC title fight?

Why did Pizzolatto not just make the fourth season if he was so worried about how it'd go? Why give up control? At this point, he kind of has to make season five or fans will simply never get one. Either way, the drama is off the charts and I'm loving it. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
