'True Detective' Creator Torches New Season, Crushes Major Theory

"True Detective" creator Nic Pizzolatto doesn't seem to be a huge fan of season four.

"True Detective: Night Country" is currently airing on HBO, and I'm a big fan of the season after being able to watch all six episodes. I truly believe it's the best overall mystery since the first season.

Now, is it the same as season one? No, but Jodie Foster is great, and the mystery is engaging and sinister as all hell.

You know who isn't a huge fan of "Night Country"? The man responsible for creating the "True Detective" saga, and he made some waves with some recent comments on Instagram.

Nic Pizzolatto criticizes new "True Detective" season.

A "True Detective" fan hopped on Pizzolatto's Instagram and raised concerns about the new season and wondered if Matthew McConaughey would return in season four.

It's been a popular theory given the fact his dad is shown in the series. However, it's not going to happen, and Pizzolatto wants people disappointed in the new season to know he had nothing to do with it.

"I certainly did not have any input on this story or anything else. Can't blame me…Matthew doesn't show up, nor would he," the famous "True Detective" creator wrote in a pair of Instagram comments.

Yeah, I would say Nic made his thoughts pretty clear, and a beef is officially underway. Writing on Instagram you're not to blame is about as blunt as it gets, and "True Detective: Night Country" creator Issa Lopez fired back.

"I believe that every storyteller has a very specific, peculiar, and unique relation to the stories they create, and whatever his reactions are, he’s entitled to them. That’s his prerogative. I wrote this with profound love for the work he made and love for the people that loved it. And it is a reinvention, and it is different, and it’s done with the idea of sitting down around the fire, and [let’s] have some fun and have some feelings and have some thoughts. And anybody that wants to join is welcome," Lopez told Vulture.

It looks like we now have a full blown feud between the man responsible for the first three seasons and the woman responsible for "Night Country."

Are you not entertained? Are you not enjoying the drama? Inject it right into my veins. This is the kind of carnage and chaos people live for.

Now, should Pizzolatto maybe not told fans to not blame him? Yeah, but is it that big of a deal? No. Fans have to make their own decisions.

Personally, I think "Night Country" is a ton of fun, and fans seem to be enjoying it as well. If he doesn't like it, that's his right as an American. Lopez is also welcome to fire back. That's how it works.
