Taylor Swift Announces New Album, Shocks The Internet

Taylor Swift left the internet in a state of shock Sunday night after announcing a new album.

Swift has been in the news nonstop ever since she started dating Travis Kelce. In the past year, her Era's Tour dominated stadiums across the country, she started dating an NFL star and his team is now in the Super Bowl.

Whether you find the coverage annoying or not, there's absolutely no doubt at all T-Swift is moving the needle. I guess she got bored of simply moving the needle and decided to break the internet.

The "American Dynasty" singer won Grammys for best pop vocal album and album of the year for "Midnights." How did she celebrate?

She let the world know she's secretly been recording a new album over the past new years titled "Tortured Poets Department."

Taylor Swift announces new album.

It's moments like this when I really think Taylor Swift might be a genius. The attention of the entertainment and sports worlds has been on her for months, and on the biggest stage for music, she shocks people with an album announcement.

Her Instagram post of the album's cover received more than 11 million likes in just seven hours. She didn't just garner attention.

It seems to be the only thing people are talking about. Good luck hopping on Instagram right now and not seeing it on the story of just about every woman you know.

You thought the attention was going to be over-the-top at the Super Bowl with Swift and Kelce? Ladies and gentlemen, she just threw a grenade into a gasoline container.

The Super Bowl is the biggest event of the year in America. Nothing beats it. Announcing her album in the days leading up to the Chiefs/49ers game in Las Vegas is simply genius.

You can dislike T-Swift and the attention all you want, but this is genius marketing 101.

Control the narrative or the narrative controls you. Swift just put on a masterclass of how to generate attention and headlines. Also, let's not pretend like this album won't bang. You know it. I know it. Millions of other fans know it. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
