Fate Of Hit Taylor Sheridan Series Officially Decided

There's still more of the "Lioness" story to tell.

The hit special operations series with Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman from creator Taylor Sheridan was a huge hit in 2023, and fans have been desperately waiting to find out if there will be a season two.

No need to wait any longer. A decision is in, and it's great news:

Season two is on the way.

"Lioness" officially renewed by Paramount+.

Paramount+, the streaming platform of the show, announced Thursday morning that the show will return for a second season after a wildly successful first season.

"Our Paramount+ audience resoundingly has joined forces in support of LIONESS’ gripping, global story and the powerhouse performances from Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira and Nicole Kidman. We cannot wait to see more of the heart-stopping suspense and action that Taylor Sheridan and the incredibly talented team deliver in its second season," Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President, Programming, Paramount+ stated in a statement.

There is no timeline for when the show will return and what specific cast members will return. However, the release described the show as, "Inspired by an actual U.S. Military program, follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA's spear in the war on terror."

That would seem to indicate Zoe Saldana is definitely returning for season two.

"Lioness" returning is great news for entertainment fans.

The first season of "Lioness" was incredible as viewers watched the hunt for a terrorist unfold through the eyes of female commandos.

It might sound borderline impossible for some people to believe, but there are some insanely badass women at the tip of the spear. Just Google women in Delta Force, Task Force Orange and CIA. Not every killer in this country is a guy. I can tell you on very solid authority there are some women out there who are insane when it comes to the world of black operations.

For the first time, the curtain was pulled back on the role women can play in the world of covert and Tier One operations.

Saldana also gave one of the best performances of her storied career.

Now, fans are getting a second season and what I presume will be the hunt for a new target. I truly can't wait. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
