Super-Rare Basketball Card Featuring Bird, Johnson And Dr. J Up For Auction, Could Net $500,000

A 40-year-old super-rare basketball card featuring Hall of Famers Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Julius "Dr. J" Erving is heading to the auction block.

Early returns say that the card COULD net over $500,000, a huge haul for a card that has been sitting in a box for the last four decades.

The card is a 1980-1981 Topps Scoring Leader card, which features the Celtics, 76ers, and Lakers stars in action.

Right now the card is on the block at SCP Auctions.

One reason that the card is due to net so much money is the fact that it was graded as a perfect 10, aka mint condition. The card is just one of 24 copies known to exist, according to SCP Auctions.

A few weeks back, the auction for the card started, and the starting bid price was $150,000. As of now, there are seven bids that have been placed, and the high bid is currently $354,000.

The auction doesn't end until Friday, and many industry experts predict that the price of the card will rise before the auction wraps up.

SCP isn't just auctioning off that card. They also have a Michael Jordan game-worn Chicago Bulls jersey from his 1984 rookie season.

The experts says the jersey could net up to $150,000.
