'Stranger Things' Release Timeline Gets Really Bad Update

"Stranger Things" fans better be ready for a long wait between seasons.

Fans of the hit Netflix series are excited for the fifth and final season to eventually arrive and hopefully give viewers an epic ending.

When will that happen? It's one of the biggest questions in the entertainment world, and the answer is nobody really has a great answer.

However, newly-cast star Linda Hamilton might have accidentally shined a light on when new episodes might drop. It's not a great update at all.

"Stranger Things" not coming until summer 2025?

"It's a year of shooting, so I couldn't be happier. Their season takes a year to shoot, which is just an unheard-of luxury of time. But the size of their day is also so beyond any scale that we're used to," Hamilton told Business Insider when discussing the new season.

"A year of shooting."

That's really bad news once you consider the final season only started shooting at the start of 2024. That means if Hamilton's claim is accurate - and there's no reason to believe it's not - the final season won't wrap until the end of 2024 or early 2025.

You ready for some more bad news? Take a seat. If the show doesn't wrap until the end of 2024 or early 2025, then new episodes are absolutely not dropping before summer 2025.

People were hoping new episodes would drop in early 2025. That's been the prevailing theory, but it's 100% not possible if filming takes a year.

The reason why is very simple. "Stranger Things" requires a ton of post-production. Months and months of post-production and then a couple of months of marketing as well.

Filming ending in December 2025 would likely mean the quickest return would be May 2025. That's an absurd wait between seasons. It'll be right around three years between seasons four and five. That's a joke no fan should have to deal with.

It might be time to start mentally preparing for a longer wait than initially anticipated. I hope that's not the case, but here we are. Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com your thoughts on having to possibly wait three years between seasons.
