Review: Peacock's 'Bronx Zoo '90' Is Must Watch Chaos For Yankees and Sports Fans

Peacock has just released its ‘Bronx Zoo 90’ series that details the New York Yankees 1990 season and it is WILD.

Now, before you automatically roll your eyes and dismiss it because it involves the Yankees, you need to listen to me when I tell you that this is a MUST-WATCH for not only baseball fans, but sports fans in general.

The three-episode series is, in short, an absolute crap storm.

SOME BRONX ZOO '90 HIGHLIGHTS:

- Were you aware that Yankees outfielder Mel Hall decided to just randomly start bringing live cougars into the clubhouse and chaining them up to the locker next to him? Yup, that happened as if he Hall was the damn Tiger King.

- You'll laugh out loud when you hear the story of Yankees starting pitcher Andy Hawkins pitching a no-hitter only to have the team commit three straight errors and ultimately lose the game. Thanks for the effort though, Hawk!

- How about late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner firing Bucky f'n Dent as manager where else - but in Boston where he literally got the nickname from!

- Infielder Kevin Mass had a group of women called ‘Mass Tops’ that would take off their shirts every time he hit a home run. Nice quality, family-friendly fun!

- Oh, and ‘Prime Time’ Deion Sanders was on the team.

YANKEES 1990 SEASON WAS A MESS

The stories that went on during that chaotic mess of a 1990-1991 season both on and off the field would be crazy for any sports team, but they are especially here because we are talking about the ‘holier-than-thou’ New York Yankees. Even as a lifelong Yankees fan, I found myself literally saying "Wait, what?!" while watching the Peacock series.

Perhaps what's even crazier is the fact that all of this could happen - including Yankees fans giving a standing ovation when Steinbrenner was banned from day-to-day operations by Major League Baseball after hiring someone to dig up dirt on his own player, Dave Winfield, to then just a few short years later begin one of the greatest baseball dynasties in recent years and winning 4 out of 5 World Series.

Wild, indeed.
