Pastor Praises God After Gun Jams In Attempted Church Shooting That Was Livestreamed

The pastor of a Pennsylvania church is giving praise to God for a man's gun jamming as he walked into a church and attempted to shoot.

Wild video from over the weekend shows a man walking down the aisle of Jesus' Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock, Pa., before pulling out a gun just mere feet away from the pastor and trying to shoot him. The act - which was unprovoked, miraculously didn't happen as the suspect's gun jammed, allowing other churchgoers to tackle him and disarm him during the livestreamed church service.

"Natural reactions just told me to jump out of the way," Reverend Glenn Germany told Fox & Friends as he said that police told him the gun was loaded but never went off when the mentally disturbed man pulled the trigger.

"I'm grateful to God… otherwise, I would not be here today for my family. I'm grateful to God… because I didn't ever see him coming… [Belief in God] is definitely a protection. A lot of time we preach about God's Divine protection and we have the time to witness angels being about you [in times of crisis]," Germany continued.

THE PASTOR FORGAVE HIM

The Pastor said he and the 26-year-old suspect, Bernard Polite, didn't know each other. Police are investigating a nearby murder that is believed to have occurred using the same weapon.

After being detained and arrested, Polite told the Reverend and police that "God told him to do it," and that he wanted to go to jail so that he could sleep.

Yikes.

And to show just how much of a saint that Reverend Germany is, he went and visited the suspect and told him he forgave him! If that wasn't enough, the Reverend said he gave the disturbed man his cell phone number and told him to reach out to him when he gets better.

Some people are clearly nicer than others - I'm not sure if I would be as forgiving as the Reverend was if I was in that situation. But hey, that's why Reverend Germany was called by God to his profession - to inspire others.
