'Outer Range' Season 2 Release Date Gets Major Update

"Outer Range" fans might not have to wait much longer for the release of season two.

The Amazon sci-fi/Western series was a surprise hit in 2022 that came out of nowhere and was one of the best shows of the year.

The series with Josh Brolin follows a ranching family fighting to keep its land from outer threats (sound familiar?), but with some massive sci-fi twists along the way.

It's an incredible blend of "Yellowstone" and "Stranger Things."

"Outer Range" set to return in a few months.

There's been plenty of speculation about when season two will arrive, and there'd been some worry it might not arrive until late 2024.

Turns out that doesn't appear to be the case. Josh Brolin told Collider the plan is to premiere season two on Amazon in May. That's an incredible update. May will be here before we know it. It also sounds like season two is going to be awesome.

"I was in a marketing meeting two days ago. We saw a couple of teasers for the entire season because I directed one of the episodes, and I was very happy to do that. And it was a very exciting process for me… It looks like I wanted it to look the first season . It looks incredible, and I’m very, very happy with it. Not that I was totally disappointed with the first season, I just felt like we were finding ourselves, and I feel like we found ourselves now," Brolin explained to Collider.

First off, I have no idea why Brolin is downplaying the first season. It was awesome, and the fact he's hinting season two is even better should be music to the ears of fans everywhere.

Second, the fact fans only have to wait until May for new episodes is awesome. This year is shaping up to be a great year for entertainment.

"Masters of the Air" and "Shogun" are currently dominating TV, "Outer Range" will apparently return in May, "Yellowstone" returns in November and "House of the Dragon" also returns this year. It's a great lineup of content.

Also, if you're not already watching "Outer Range," then you're missing out because it's an excellent show. It has a lot of similar themes as "Yellowstone" when it comes to family and land, and there's plenty of sci-fi elements. There's also an incredible twist/reveal at the end of season one. I hate to brag, but I called it pretty much from the start. Those of you watching know exactly what I'm talking about and I won't ruin it for anyone else.

Now, we sit and wait a couple months for May to roll around and new "Outer Range" episodes hit Amazon. Let me know what you think of the series at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
