Ohio Man In Leopard Print Outfit Arrested With Multiple Hamsters In His Pants After Alleged Pet Store Break In
An Ohio man was sleeping off a wild night of alleged break-ins at several businesses when police caught up with him and placed him under arrest.
The body cam footage shows that he was found with multiple hamsters in his pants as they took him into custody. Police were called to Roosters near Hilliard, Ohio just after 3 am Tuesday morning, according to 10 WBNS.
The restaurant had been broken into, and surveillance video showed a man with long hair wearing leopard print pajamas inside. Officers found a nearby pet store, Petland, had been broken into as well and there were several animals running loose in the parking lot.
They reportedly recovered two dogs, multiple birds, a hamster, and two bunnies. But that's not all the fun that officers found. In addition to the restaurant and the pet store, a Famous Footwear store had also been broken into.
Almost two hours after the initial call was made, at around 4:45 am, officers found their suspect, identified by police as Matthew Pancake, sleeping on a bench near a Big Lots.
Where Else Are You Supposed To Hide Your Stolen Hamsters?
The body cam footage shows multiple officers surrounding Mr. Pancake as he slept. Two officers then grab him, pull him off the bench, and inform him that he's under arrest.
The rude awakening had Pancake confused and asking officers what was going on. After all, he was just minding his own business catching some Zs while hamsters roamed around in his leopard print pants.
After placing Mr. Pancake in handcuffs, they discover that he has what they originally thought were "multiple gerbils in his pants." The gerbils turned out to be hamsters, not that it makes much a difference when they're stuffed into one's pants.
I feel like there's a joke to make about a certain actor and a certain rumor involving creatures in his pants, but I'll leave that sort of thing to the experts.
Officers snapped pictures of the hamsters before taking them back to the store they were allegedly stolen from. Mr. Pancake was treated for injuries he suffered during his alleged crime spree. He was then charged with breaking and entering and vandalism.
During his arraignment on Wednesday, a judge set his bond at $10,000. Hopefully, that buys the hamsters some time to recover from the trauma of their experience with Mr. Pancake.
