Morgan Wallen Postpones Grand Opening Of New Nashville Bar

If you were planning to visit Morgan Wallen's new bar in Nashville this weekend, you're going to be disappointed.

Just hours before Wallen's This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen was set to make its grand opening, the venue announced it wouldn't be ready in time for Memorial Day weekend.

"We're proud of our team who has worked tirelessly to prepare Morgan Wallen's This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen for opening. The ground-up construction of a six-story venue launching with hundreds of team members is a tremendous amount of work and a complex process," the TC Restaurant Group said in a statement to Billboard.

The organizers continued: "When we open, we want This Bar to be an exceptional experience for guests. Unfortunately, the process requires more time, and we are not able to open and provide that experience this Memorial Day weekend. Rest assured it will be well worth the wait. We look forward to welcoming guests soon."

TC Restaurant Group also owns a number of celebrity bars on Broadway — like Jason Aldean's Kitchen and Rooftop Bar, Luke's 32 Bridge Food + Drink and Miranda Lambert's Casa Rosa.

Billboard quoted a source claiming the bar was simply awaiting final inspections. But there might be more to it.

Morgan Wallen Feuding With Nashville City Council

Wallen faced substantial backlash in 2021 when TMZ released a video of the singer saying the N-word to one of his friends after a night out.

And last month, Wallen was arrested after police say he tossed a chair off the sixth-story rooftop of Eric Church's bar, Chief's on Broadway. The country music superstar now faces three felony counts of reckless endangerment and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

His initial court hearing was scheduled for early May, but the judge kicked it to Aug. 15.

Earlier this week, Nashville's Metropolitan Council denied a request for Wallen's new bar to build a 20-foot sign outside the building, according to Fox News. The vote to deny it was 30-3.

"Mr. Wallen is a fellow East Tennessean. He gives all of us a bad name. His comments are hateful; his actions are harmful," District 14 Council member Jordan Huffman said during the vote.

Member Delishia Porterfield added, "I don't want to see a billboard up with the name of a person who's throwing chairs off of balconies and who is saying racial slurs."

In response to the denial, Wallen posted a photo on his Instagram story of Nissan Stadium — packed and sold-out for one of his three Nashville shows in early May.

At this time, no new opening date for Wallen's bar has been set, but the venue promised it would be "coming soon."
