'Yellowstone' Star Breaks Silence On Kevin Costner Drama

Luke Grimes has slightly opened up about the chaos surrounding "Yellowstone."

The legendary Western saga from genius Taylor Sheridan is expected to start production soon, and should return for its fifth and final season in November as scheduled.

However, there's one question on everyone's mind:

Will Kevin Costner resolve any issues that might still exist with Sheridan and return as John Dutton or have fans seen him on the ranch for the last time?

Luke Grimes addresses Kevin Costner likely leaving "Yellowstone."

Grimes is one of the most recognizable faces on the series, and has shot to fame playing Kayce Dutton - the youngest Dutton child. He's hands down one of the best parts of the show, and is an absolute killer. Will fans see more of Kayce and John getting after it together? I wouldn't bet on it.

"Whatever happened there is unfortunate if it’s changed anything about how the show was going to unfold. I know, [Costner] got busy with his movies that were like passion projects [the newly announced Horizon: An American Saga for one]. At a certain point, you gotta do what you gotta do, man; you gotta do what you love," Grimes said in an interview with the Independent when discussing the situation.

Does that sound like a man who believes Costner is returning? It certainly doesn't to me. It sounds like Grimes has accepted the situation and is just hoping the ending doesn't change. I guess we'll find out starting in November.

Luke Grimes addresses show's critics.

Grimes also spoke about people who hate the show because they view it as being crafted to appeal to conservatives and people in the middle of the country. It's not hard to understand why people might believe that's the target demographic. It 100% is. The main themes of "Yellowstone" are family, land ownership, protecting what's yours, fighting back against encroachment, guns, there's pro-life storylines and it's about a conservative lifestyle.

Grimes doesn't care if people hate the show. In fact, he seems to think many might be hypocrites.

"I think a lot of people see a cowboy hat and a horse and they think, ‘Oh, that’s not for me, those people believe differently.’ And it’s almost like they take these flawed characters in the show and chalk it up to some sort of weird belief that they’ve put on them. Meanwhile, you can have a terrible person like [Succession’s] Logan Roy, who lives in an apartment in Manhattan, and that’s fine. That guy’s a total piece of sh*t! But that’s OK. It’s so funny to me because…I just don’t understand why that has to immediately equal some political belief. And I don’t think it does," Grimes told the outlet.

You can say a lot of things about "Yellowstone," but the one thing you can't say is that it's ever boring. On the show and outside of it, the drama never ends. We'll see how it wraps up starting in November. Hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
