Emotional Tim Tebow Gives Powerful Opening Statement On Child Sex Abuse During Capitol Hill Hearing

Tim Tebow continues to set the bar for humanity. Frankly, it's so high at this point I'm not sure anyone will ever reach it.

The former Florida Gator/Heisman trophy winner/national champ/NFL QB/minor league slugger found himself in front of the House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee On Crime and Federal Government Surveillance today.

I know – that's a lot to take in. But stay with me.

Tebow was there fighting for victims of child sex abuse.

It's a cause the CFB Hall of Famer has believed in for years now, so much so that he's spent his post-playing career using his Tim Tebow foundation to identify and rescue as many victims of child sexual abuse as possible.

Anyway, Tebow dressed up in his Sunday best, sat in front of the committee this morning, and gave an impassioned speech on the real MVP: Most Vulnerable People.

Tim Tebow gets emotional on Capitol Hill

That's obviously a long(ish) video, but if you're gonna watch any of it today, watch the part where Tebow reads a letter from a "young girl who got abused for seven years."

It starts around the 4:40 mark in the above clip, lasts about two minutes, and is worth every second.

"Almost every night, she got raped," an emotional Tebow said. "In the middle of her abuse, this is what she writes: Rescue me, help me, monsters are chasing. Can't you see? Monsters are whispering. Can't you hear? Monsters are shouting, you are nothing, can't you feel my pain?

"Can someone please rescue me?"

Ultimately, Tebow asked committee members to pass a bill intended to put together a rescue team for kids.

The Heisman winner later took to Twitter to thank the committee for allowing him to speak.

He's a reigning fantasy football league champion, knows everything there is to know about NASCAR, and once passed out (briefly!) during a lap around Daytona. He swears they were going 200 mph even though they clearly were not.
