Eminem is 16 years sober after struggling with substance abuse issues.

Prior to getting sober, Eminem had some incredibly serious issues when it came to his substance abuse issues. E! News reported he struggled not just with alcohol, but also with hard drugs.

Specifically, he was addicted to Vicodin Valium, and suffered a terrible accidental overdose in 2007. Now, he's kicked the horrible demon that is addiction for the past 16 years.

Addiction is a brutal thing for many people to kick, and it often can't happen for addicts until hitting rock bottom. That appears to have been his 2007 overdose.

Now, Eminem is on a much better path and his fans were happy to show their support on social media with his announcement.

Below are a few of the comments shared on Instagram:

  • Sweet 16. So proud of you.
  • Amazing feat.
  • Well done and thanks for sharing the journey with us
  • 16yrs strong, so proud of you! 🥲🫶🏻
  • Well done brother. Huge.
  • Still alive 🔥🔥❤️❤️

Hopefully, Eminem serves as an example to others struggling with addiction issues that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It might not be easy, but it's worth it. Props to him for staying sober so long after multiple issues in his younger days. You love to see it.
