Disney Requiring Kids To Be Vaccinated To Go On Cruises

Get in line, kids! Here's your COVID-19 vaccine.

That's precisely the message that Disney Cruise Line is sending to parents if their kids would like to go on any upcoming Disney cruise. The company announced on Wednesday that kids ages five and up must show proof of vaccination as of Jan. 13, 2022 for national and international trips. The new mandate comes now that federal regulators have ruled that children five and up are authorized to take the Pfizer vaccine.

According to Disney, guests that are not vaccine-eligible because of age will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result. The test result must take place three days and 24 hours before their sail date. Per Disney, rapid antigen tests will not be accepted. All guests ages two and up, even if they are fully vaccinated, are required to wear face masks when indoors.

Is it fair to question the "science" that goes into these protocols? If only vaccinated guests can attend a cruise in the first place, then why is Disney requiring them to wear a mask indoors as well? Yet again, it comes down to control.

The vaccine mandate will go into effect just in time for the unveiling of Disney's newest ship, Disney Wish, which will set sail in 2022.
