Charlie Kirk To Be Honored By Ohio High School Football Student Sections As Teens Begin Carrying The Torch

Teens in Ohio and across the country prepare to honor Charlie Kirk in their own way

From Yankee Stadium, to Lambeau Field and all the way down to tiny Pandora, Ohio, Americans are remembering Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Wednesday.

Tonight, when Leipsic plays Pandora-Gilboa which sits between Lima and Findlay, the student sections will be wearing red, white and blue "to honor Charlie Kirk," the Leipsic school district announced just hours before kickoff.

"Love that our students don’t feel like they should be silenced during this time. Glad the school district reposted it so students and parents of younger students know the change in theme, should they choose to participate," one parent wrote on Facebook of this major moment in the life of teenagers.

For high school students across the country, this is, as Peggy Noonan wrote in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday, a crossroads in American history.

"[W]hat a disaster all this is for the young," 75-year-old Noonan noted

"Kirk was a presence in the life of a whole generation of young conservatives, and he set a kind of template for how to discuss politics—with good cheer and confidence, with sincerity and a marshaling of facts. He was literally willing to meet people where they are."

Undoubtedly, as Noonan recognized, we're dealing with teenagers who saw their hero assassinated in high definition. Most of them saw it multiple times. It's ingrained in their brains.

13-year-olds with phones had no problem finding the assassination video. All of the streaming apps showed it in their algorithms. It was everywhere.

"Even Instagram’s Teen accounts, designed with additional safety features for users 13 to 17, could readily find videos of the shooting," the Washington Post reported.

What does this mean for the future of this country and teens who will never forget this moment?

"They will ask: If you are killed for speaking the truth as you see it, are you really free? Is this a free country?" Noonan continued.

Tonight in Pandora, Ohio and at high school football fields across this nation, communities will gather with a choice going forward.

"Be grateful to be American. We have been given such a blessing. Let us keep it, preserve it, and give it to our children in even better shape than it was given to us," Kirk tweeted on July 4.
