British Olympics Reporter Has Americans Scrambling After Sizzling Paris Debut
Fine, I'll admit it. I didn't watch a second of yesterday's Olympic Opening Ceremony. I just don't care. I'm sorry, but I don't.
It's not my thing. Never has been. Beyond the golf, it probably never will be. Does that make me a Nazi? I don't know. I hope not.
Anyway, I do appreciate the Olympics because it gives us folks in the #content game something to blog about during an otherwise dead period in sports. We're still a few weeks from college football coming back, a few more from the NFL, and then it's all systems go. Strap in for the fall, baby!
Until then, though, we don't generally have much to talk about. But this year, we get the Olympics – and with that comes BBC reporter Tonia Couch, who made her big debut to American audiences yesterday afternoon and absolutely rocked our socks off:
Tonia Couch has America rooting for the other team during the Olympic Games
Bloody hell! I love saying that, but feel like I'm not at all entitled to it because I'm as American as they come. That phrase doesn't really pack the same punch when you're not British. Oh well.
Anyway, back to Tonia Couch … she stomped on the internet's throat yesterday and I don't know that she's gonna loosen that death grip any time soon.
Turns out, she's an absolute pistol. She was born in Plymouth in 1989, started diving at 10, competed in the 2009 World Championships at just 20, and then in both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics games. Unreal resume.
BBC Tonia then retired in 2018, and has been a heartthrob on TV ever since.
And now, she's an American icon. Just like that. While the wokes over at NBC were broadcasting the drag queens do satan's work last night, BBC was rolling with Tonia Couch.
And us great patriots back here in the states appreciated it.
