Associated Press Removes Nickelback 9/11 Tweet: 'It Was In Poor Taste'

A tweet from the Associated Press Planner handle celebrating the 20th anniversary of Nickelback's Silver Side Up album has been deleted. The tweet recognized the album immediately after sending out a reminder about the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

"Tomorrow: 20th anniversary of 9/11 terrorist attacks (11 Sep)," the account tweeted.

Following that tweet was a reminder about the Nickelback album, released Sept. 11, 2001.

The AP Planner account eventually acknowledged the Nickelback tweet, indicating it regretted sending it out in the first place.

“A tweet sent on the @AP_Planner account about Saturday, Sept. 11, being the anniversary of a Nickelback album was deleted. The tweet was in poor taste,” the follow-up tweet read.

Of course, this is Nickelback we're talking about, and you can't help but take a shot at one of the most ridiculed bands in pop/rock history. Multiple Twitter users did just that.
