Apple's Upcoming Mystery-Thriller With Jake Gyllenhaal Sounds Legit

Apple might have another major hit on its hands with "Presumed Innocent."

Apple has consistently pumped out some of the best entertainment fans can find over the past several years, and the company is flying high after the incredible success of "Masters of the Air."

The WWII series is the best show of 2024 so far, and it's hard to imagine any upcoming series will beat it. Now, Apple will look to cash in on its very strong momentum.

Apple releasing new mystery-thriller with Jake Gyllenhaal titled "Presumed Innocent."

The streaming/tech giant describes the upcoming series with Jake Gyllenhaal as follows:

"Presumed Innocent" is an eight-episode limited series starring and executive produced by Jake Gyllenhaal, hailing from David E. Kelley and executive producer J.J. Abrams and is based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow. Starring Gyllenhaal in the lead role of chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich, the series takes viewers on a gripping journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when one of its own is suspected of the crime. The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together. The star-studded ensemble cast of the thriller also includes Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle and Renate Reinsve.

Does that not sound incredibly interesting to you? It definitely does to me. A "horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney's office when one of its own is" the suspect sounds like one hell of a great premise for a dark and sinister TV series.

Admittedly, I've never read the book "Presumed Innocent" is based on or seen the movie with Harrison Ford, but as I often say, I prefer going in dark. That way I'm not biased based on any previous knowledge.

It's hard to imagine how this series with all the known ingredients won't be solid. Gyllenhaal is a great actor, Apple has unlimited resources and a proven track record and J.J. Abrams is an executive producer.

He's the genius responsible for "Lost," "Alias," Armageddon" and several other incredibly successful and entertaining works.

"Lost" is considered one of the greatest series ever made. "Alias" shot Jennifer Garner to fame and was perfectly timed for the GWOT era.

Now, he's bringing his talent and vision to Apple TV+ with "Presumed" innocent. I'm definitely interested, and will be checking it out once it premieres June 12th. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@Outkick.com.
