Black Ops Veteran Reveals The Brutal And Bloody Truth Of Being Shot: WATCH
Andy Stumpf was shot while a member of SEAL Team 6.
Former Tier One operator Andy Stumpf didn't hold back when revealing what it's like to get shot.
Stumpf served as a member of SEAL Team 6 for part of his time in the military. SEAL Team 6 is an elite Tier One organization tasked with hostage rescue and direct action raids.
It's the Navy's counterpart to the Army's Delta Force. Both units are considered in the black ops portion of the special operations world.
SEAL Team 6 veteran Andy Stumpf reveals what it's like to be shot.
Stumpf was shot in 2005 on a mission in Iraq while working with Delta Force on a high-value target. Fortunately, he was able to recover, but that doesn't mean the immediate moment wasn't absolute hell.
"I turned my head to the right to look inside of the blackout window. And I just heard gunfire and felt like I got slapped in the side with a baseball bat. People ask what it feels like to get shot. Not awesome is the short answer. I would say if you put like a nine-inch nail in a baseball bat and gave it to like peak steroid Mark McGwire and said just give me one right here. That's I think about what it felt like. It sucked for sure," Stumpf explained in an interview with Dalton Fisher released Tuesday.
You can watch him break down getting shot at 2:13:35 in the video below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
The mission that Stumpf got shot on was the same mission former Delta Force operator and "SEAL Team" star Tyler Grey was seriously wounded.
I spoke to Grey a few years ago about the horrific injuries he suffered. The former Tier One operator described his arm as "hamburger meat."
These stories are blunt reminders of the dangers military members and Tier One operators face on target. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
