COVID's Latest Victim: The Collinsworth Slide

COVID-19 has claimed another victim. The Collinsworth slide, something that football fans have looked forward to ever since they realized NBC started sliding Cris Collinsworth into a shot with partner Al Michaels.

Michaels said today on a conference call that the slide is "on hold" as the world goes through social distancing requirements.  It was also announced on the conference call that sideline reporter Michelle Tafoya will be working from an area of the stands called the “moat" due to the sidelines being closed to reporters.

The other big news, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert, is that Al Michaels won't be working a full schedule in 2020 in order to minimize travel. Mike Tirico will call Week 3's Packers at Saints game.

And finally, the NFL has provided NBC with crowd noise to use during games where fans will not be in the stands. The crowd noise comes from NFL Films.

Sunday Night Football on NBC kicks off September 10 with Texans-Chiefs. Arrowhead's maximum capacity will be 22%.
