Colin Kaepernick's Name Pops Up As Possible Backup For Russell Wilson In Seattle

Colin Kaepernick is now 33 years old and hasn't played in the NFL since the 2016 season, but every year his name gets mentioned as a possible backup QB for a team that is looking for one.

This year, that team is the Seattle Seahawks, who are dealing with unhappy Russell Wilson and would like to add a quality backup who could make plays.

The last time that Kaepernick took the field as a starter, he was 1-10, throwing for 2,241 yards with 16 touchdowns and four picks and a QB rating of 90.7.

Kaepernick's tease about coming out and joining a team seems to happen each season, and it usually lasts for a short period of time and then gets shut down.

While the Seahawks could have potential interest in Kaepernick, a team that could be focused on trying to land Wilson is the Chicago Bears.

The Bears' name has come up more than once as a possible suitor for Wilson, but it's hard to think that the veteran Hawks QB is going to go anywhere in 2021.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said that the Bears have an interesting market that could entice Wilson, but at the end of the day, it's up to Seattle if they actually want to move the quarterback.

“I expect the Chicago Bears to at least take their shot here because a source told me Russell Wilson likes that they have an emerging offensive line, a good offensive-mind in Matt Nagy, and an intriguing market in Chicago,” Fowler said on SportsCenter.

It was four years ago in 2017 when the Seahawks had interest in speaking to Kaepernick, but the team backed out of the meeting due to fiscal reasons.

Don't count on much coming of Seattle speaking to Kaepernick. It's just the time of the year when rumors pop up almost hourly, and there are still plenty of fans who would love to see the controversial quarterback back in the league.
