CNN Suspends Chris Cuomo

CNN has suspended Chris Cuomo indefinitely following new details about his efforts to assist his brother, Andrew Cuomo, the former governor of New York.

Monday, New York Attorney General Letitia James released documents that revealed the extent to which Chris Cuomo blurred the line between brother and news anchor to aid his brother, Andrew, in response to widespread sexual harassment allegations. Unbeknownst to CNN, Cuomo used media connections to dig up information on his brother Andrew’s accusers. CNN has since announced it will conduct another thorough review of Cuomo’s action.

“I have a lead on the wedding girl,” Cuomo wrote in a text message to his brother's aide.

At the very least, Chris Cuomo misled his employer about his involvement in his brother’s political and criminal issues. At worst, he abused his power. Thus naturally, Cuomo’s actions have relit the discussion about his future at CNN.

“The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions,” CNN said in a statement on Tuesday.

“When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly,” the network said. “But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second. However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew.”

“As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation,” CNN concludes.
