Clay Weighs In On Mulkey Calling For NCAA To Dump Final Four COVID Testing

Baylor women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey created headlines on Monday night. Following a tough 67-69 loss to UConn in the Elite Eight, she used part of the postgame press conference to address a potential issue the Final Four might face.

Mulkey believes the NCAA should “dump” the COVID-19 testing for the final three games of the Tournament. Even though her team is no longer involved, she doesn’t want to see others left out of participating due to a positive test.

“After the games today and tomorrow, there’s four teams left, I think, on the men’s side and the women’s side,” Mulkey said, via Fox News. “They need to dump the COVID testing. Wouldn’t it be a shame to keep COVID testing and then you got kids that test positive or something and they don’t get to play in the Final Four? So, you need to just forget the COVID test. Let the four teams playing in each Final Four go battle it out.”

Of course, that comment has created a lot of backlash from coronabros, including the loud and obnoxious Keith Olbermann. After asking why Mulkey — or as he referred to her, “this idiot” — has yet to be fired, OutKick founder Clay Travis fired back at Olbermann.

“Because she’s right, coronabro,” Clay tweeted on Monday night. “If Gonzaga had a player test positive for COVID and lost their perfect season and a chance at the championship because they had to forfeit that would be complete and total insanity.”

How many athletes, both college and professional, have been hospitalized with COVID-19? How many are dealing with lingering effects and seeing it threaten their careers? OK, so Gonzaga should risk a chance at history due to a minuscule, almost non-existent chance at complications?

That is Clay’s point.

  1. Keith Olbermann wonders why that idiot hasn’t been fired yet? I have been wondering that about Keith for three decades. (I’m still in a fog about Katy Tur dating him long ago. Why? Was it a dare?)

  2. I like Mulkey even more! Yes, hundreds of college athletes have died or become seriously sick from COVID …. no wait,, despite some positive tests, nor a single athlete has been hospitalized, much less killed by COVID. Keith Olbermann remains a faint POS.

  3. Keith can have his liberal, coronabro views. That’s fine and certainly does not make him a bad dude. But calling for this woman to be fired? That’s a line getting crossed by left way too often when conservatives merely speak words they don’t agree with. This is the bigger issue, and this form of cancellation has to stop. Clay, wish you would directly go after Olberman for this.
