Clay: Male Athletes Make More Because People Care More

OutKick founder Clay Travis says the reason male athletes make more money than female athletes comes down to simple economics — more people pay to watch male athletes.

Clay mentioned how Team USA soccer star Megan Rapinoe brought up the topic several years back, with Rapinoe suggesting female athletes should be paid the same as their male counterparts.

“Nobody was willing to push back and say, ‘Wait a minute, supply and demand matters,'” Clay said. “The reason why male athletes make more money than female athletes is because even if they do the same job, more people care to watch male athletes play than they do female athletes, because they’re better.

“I think that has to kind of factor in on some level here. The amount of interest in a sport dictates how much you get paid.”

  1. We need to change our preferences! A woke person would learn to like lesser competition! We just need mandated re-education camps. Such an easy solution. Women can do anything men can do! Our great leader Alzheimer Joe said so!

  2. If Clay wants to get cancelled by the woke mob, he needs to be more controversial then, ‘men are better’ athletes than women.

there is a serious push right now for men to reduce themselves to raise up women. and there seems to be no analysis or comment by other women in media on this. in other news; a cheeta runs faster that a Cat or Dog. nobodys says the Cheeta is a better cat, just better at running faster.

  3. You beat me to it George. I agree. This argument makes as much sense as a high school football coach for a small 1-A program with a $10,000 budget arguing that he should be paid the same as an SEC head coach generating $50 million in revenue per year. Still, he would have more of an argument than Megan Rapinoe, because he might actually be able to argue he’s just as good of a football coach as the SEC guy on paper.
