Missing the postgame interview following a 30-24 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid reportedly fell ill on Sunday and had to leave Arrowhead Stadium in an ambulance.
According to the KSHB report, team executives confirmed that the HC was not in any type of critical condition but was sent to the hospital after checking in with the team’s medical personnel. “Everything looks fine, but he’s getting checked out,” stated Ted Crews, the team’s Vice President of Communications.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said that Reid addressed the team in the locker room before the ambulance arrived.
“He came in and talked to us. He seemed fine, so that’s all I really know,” commented Mahomes. NFL Network’s James Palmer noted that the coach did not meet with reporters “out of caution.” Palmer added that “players didn’t know he wasn’t feeling well.”
“I can confirm he left the stadium in an ambulance. Players didn’t know he wasn’t feeling well and were told he should be ok. Everything is pointing toward the Chiefs taking every precaution,” said Palmer.
The Kansas City Chiefs were defeated on Sunday by AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers. Kansas City slides to a 1-2 record, while LA improves to 2-1.
