If there is one thing we know about Charles Barkley, it’s that he’s never been afraid of a little controversy. The former NBA star turned sports broadcaster has no issue sharing his opinion and calling people out.
His latest target? The NCAA.
On Sunday night, Barkley, who is covering March Madness for CBS, went in on the NCAA for being so reactionary. He even went as far as calling them the Barney Fife of the world. You know there’s some heat coming when you have to break out The Andy Griffith Show references.
“They do an awful job of administrating,” Barkley said. “We’ve got guys on tape paying players three years ago that they haven’t said anything about … it’s time for them to get their crap together.”
Here is the clip, which John Gaskins shared on social media.
This is why Charles Barkley is one of the best & highest paid broadcasters in network TV sports. Only one at this high a level willing to say this. Might just be his ticket out of doing these college shows. pic.twitter.com/jiIfmSHRf2

Where are the lies? You won’t find any because Barkley isn’t afraid to call the situation for what it is, even during an NCAA event.
You have to respect his willingness to stand up and speak his mind.

The big 3 of incompetent, inept, malfeasant institutions: the NCAA, the UN, and Congress.
…and don’t forget the IOC, FIFA, & the WHO.
Perhaps ESPN needs to pay enough money so the Women’s tournament won’t lose millions of bucks!
“Nip it in the bud!”
NCAA doesn’t have any players on the payroll, but some of these college tickets are more expensive than pro-level sporting events.
I don’t know how Charles Barkley escapes getting cancelled during these times…but I for one hope he never does.
The higher-ups at the NCAA are definitely terrified. I don’t know how many times CBS/TBS announcers made reference to the women’s tournament that’s being broadcast on a whole other set of networks. I can’t remember ever seeing that before.
