Chaos! English Soccer Fans Bust Through Wembley Stadium Gates, Punches Fly

How desperate were English soccer fans to see their team lose to Italy in the Euro2020 final via penalty kicks? They rushed the gates at Wembley Stadium Sunday and were tripped, punched & kicked by what appears to be fans who paid for tickets. At least one adult carrying a child was shown running towards a Wembley entry door, apparently after getting past the gates outside the stadium.

It was pure desperation. The English just had to get past Italy on their home soil to bring it home. It was going to be the first tournament victory by the English since winning the World Cup in 1966. People wanted in & if it meant being punched in the head, then that was the risk they were willing to take.

Let's get to the action!

This sorta reminds me of the time my father and I went to see Alabama-Ole Miss (the game where Ole Miss won and tore down the goalposts) where scalpers were still charging like $200 a ticket well into the first quarter. Dad and I eventually saw a ticket taker who would accept handshake payments for entry and we made our way in.

That's where I went first and gave her $40. Meanwhile, dad spent $20. That still burns me up, but we got to see one of the great games in Ole Miss history. We stood the entire game and didn't bother a soul.

As for the English fans, it was pure madness. They weren't even tipping the ticket takers. It was pure bullying their way in and throwing around gates.

“There was a breach of security at Wembley Stadium, which resulted in a small number of people getting into the stadium without a ticket," a UK police spokesperson told The Guardian. "Officers worked closely with security officials to prevent any further breaches. We will also support action by Wembley Stadium officials to identify those without tickets and eject them.”

Small number of people? Uh, the videos say otherwise Chief.
