A report Tuesday in the New York Post states that current Cleveland mayor Frank Jackson has used his resources to protect his grandson, a reported gang member in the Cleveland area.

The story says that Jackson used his influence to keep his grandson from being arrested for a fatal shooting that still remains unsolved.

The shooting took place on August 28th, 2019 when 30-year-old Antonio “Bisket” Parra was killed in broad daylight. The suspect in the case is Jackson's grandson, Frank Q. Jackson, who is believed to be a member of the street gang No-Limit 700.

The night of the shooting, officers went to Jackson's home with the intention of taking Jackson's grandson into custody, but never did.

The mayor had a chat with Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams and eventually the group of officers that were on the scene left without incident and without making any arrests.

Mayor Jackson claimed he was not aware as to why his grandson wasn’t arrested the night the officers, including Chief Williams, came to the house.

“I do not know,” Jackson said, according to the New Republic,

“To the best of my recollection while outside my house … spoke on the phone with Frank Q. Jackson’s lawyers.”

The family of the murder victim has since sued Mayor Jackson.

Peter Pattakos, who is representing the Parra family, claims that the case shows the corruption of Jackson and his regime.

“You spend so many years in power, and you get desensitized to your own abuses of it,” he told the New Republic.

“The mayor in part holds power on his purported representation of the poor people in the inner city, but his family is above it, and it’s created this spectacular mess.”
