Cam Newton Promises To Get Some Things 'Off My Chest' On Friday

Former New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton says he is planning an announcement for later this week and that we shouldn't expect him to hang up his cleats just yet.

In a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, the free agent quarterback said he’d have a video up this Friday.

“I have a lot of things that I need to get off my chest," he said in the short video.

Newton made a point to emphasize he isn't walking away from the game. “This is not a retirement speech, and I have a lot of football still in me."

It seems likely that Newton plans to reveal some details about what led to his sudden release from the Patriots last week. Bill Belichick and the Patriots elected to make rookie Mac Jones their starter.

Belichick said Newton showed up and worked hard, but ultimately the team’s future is with Mac Jones under center.

Not much has been said about the former MVP since his release, only that neither the Cowboys nor Washington are likely to pursue him.
