California To Require Masks At Schools; CDC Says Masks Not Needed If Vaccinated

California plans to continue to require masks in school settings, state health officials announced Friday, after the Centers for Disease Control released new guidelines saying vaccinated students and teachers no longer need to wear masks inside campus buildings.

State health officials said the requirement will allow for full-time in-person learning and for all students to be treated the same, whether they’re vaccinated or not, Fox News reports.

“Masking is a simple and effective intervention that does not interfere with offering full in-person instruction,” said California Health and Human Services Agency Secretary Mark Ghaly. “At the outset of the new year, students should be able to walk into school without worrying about whether they will feel different or singled out for being vaccinated or unvaccinated — treating all kids the same will support a calm and supportive school environment.”

The CDC’s recommendations also said schools should try and keep desks three feet apart — these guidelines are not a mandate. The CDC guidance said prevention strategies, including indoor masking, should be utilized when it’s not possible to maintain a distance of at least three feet in the classroom.

Ghaly said not all school facilities in the state can accommodate physical distancing and “we will align with the CDC by implementing multiple layers of mitigation strategies, including continued masking and robust testing capacity.”

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health previously recommended that all residents wear masks in public indoor spaces — regardless of whether they’ve been vaccinated for COVID-19 with the Delta variant of the coronavirus continuing to spread statewide.

  1. This is sick. Millions of children in this country, 18 months into this pandemic and the CDC can’t produce a single study to prove that masks do a damn thing, let alone with children. Absolutely sick.

  2. Just so you know: Most Californians ain’t as stupid as the headlines & politicians.
But there are definitely people still driving around, walking down the street with their masks on.
It’s their way of signaling what a soldier are they, in the fight against the dreaded virus with a 99.9% survival rate! And that they obviously voted BIDEN/HARRIS..

The Public Schools here are beyond pathetic though, and will happily go along with the cosmetic theater. And the sad part is, most college students are walking around with masks too! I remember when being young meant being rebelious, resisting stupid government mandates…

  3. Would all the conservatives in California please move to Texas to offset the droves of blue voters pouring in illegally from El Salvador every freaking day !?!?

It’s a win-win. Let Cali burn into insanity, homelessness and high taxes and save Texas.

    • I respectfully disagree, Red Dot. Love the handle by the way. Now is the time for good people to step up and stop the foolishness. Send your kids to school this fall without masks. If millions of parents follow the science and respectfully disagree with activist policy makers then this craziness will stop. And if one administrator touches my kid there will be hell to pay………
Besides, standing up for freedom may be the most important live lesson we can teach the next generation. CIVIL disobedience is warranted here. Stay put, dig in.

  4. Why is an experimental pathogen injection required when children have virtually 0 chance of dying from COVID? The CDC is not a health organization. It is a partisan political and vaccine patent owning organization. It has no authority to set public policy. Public officials are just choosing to……
