C.J. Beathard Pays Homage to Brother Following 49ers Win

C.J. Beathard has seen tough times. The third-string quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers had his own brother murdered outside of a Nashville bar back in 2019. It was a tragic story, and it's something that Beathard will carry for the rest of his life.

That third-string quarterback pressed forward with his life, however, and got a start for the 49ers on Saturday afternoon. He helped secure his team a big 20-12 win over a divisional rival, the Arizona Cardinals, and was a part of all three of San Francisco's touchdowns in the game.

Following his impactful performance, Beathard made sure to pay homage to his late brother, Clayton. According to David Lombardi with The Athletic, Beathard wore a jacket during the postgame press conference. That jacket included a picture of his brother.

One can only imagine how difficult it was to go through something like that. It's understandable that receiving the jacket from his pastor would bring with it a lot of emotion.

It's great to see Beathard and the 49ers get a big win. This is a team that rallied around Beathard after his brother was killed, and to see them rally around him on the field was awesome.

Beathard probably frustrates fans at times with his play, but it's extremely hard to not pull for the guy.
