Bucs HC Bruce Arians Squashes OBJ Rumors

Videos by OutKick

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians squashed any speculation that the 6-2 defending Super Bowl champions would sign free agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

“No. Too many letters – I’ve already got A.B. I don’t need OBJ,” Arians said on Wednesday.

The Buccaneers made a splash last season when they signed receiver Antonio Brown as insurance for Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, who were dealing with injuries at the time. It’s now Brown who is hobbled, dealing with an ankle injury that’s kept him out of action over the past three weeks.

Beckham Jr., 29, was released by the Browns on Monday. He officially passed through waivers on Tuesday, making him a free agent for the first time in his career. Per ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Beckham Jr. is likely to sign with the Chiefs, Packers or Saints.

Tampa Bay signed receiver Breshad Perriman to its practice squad on Tuesday. Perriman, 28, is the insurance policy for this season, returning for a second stint with the Buccaneers. Perriman had 36 receptions for 645 yards and six touchdowns in 2019 with Tampa Bay.
