Breaking Down the SEC on CBS Schedule

Videos by OutKick

CBS released the framework of their SEC Game of the Week package today:

Two quick points:

1) Georgia @ Alabama is in primetime and Alabama @ LSU is in early evening. Not that this is surprising given the pedigree of those three programs, but the fact that those two games are singled out for those time slots is an indicator that they are the two jewel games of the season before it starts.

2) Here are the weekly slates for the games that have not been picked yet, and my guess at what the game will wind up being:

October 10:

My guess: Florida @ Texas A&M

October 24:

My guess: Alabama @ Tennessee

November 21:

My guess: Mississippi State @ Georgia

November 28:

My guess: Auburn @ Alabama

December 5:

My guess: Ole Miss @ LSU

  1. How I Became An SEC fan in the 80’s is mirrored by this schedule. Growing up in DC/MD/VA, pro sports are king and college sports kinda sucked and was niche’.

On random Saturday Afternoons or evenings, I would catch and SEC conference game on the tube. It seemed to me at the time, that every game and every team (except Vanderbilt) was not just competitive, but exciting.

1992 rolls around and I got caught in the Bama net as they beat the Miami Hurricanes in an unthinkable upset.

I fell for the Tide then, but I’ve loved the SEC since high school at least and this schedule looks like HOME cookin.

    Roll Damn Tide
