Bill O'Brien Looks Like He's Out of Answers as Texans Fall to 0-4

The Houston Texans are 0-4 to start the season, and head coach Bill O'Brien's demeanor during his postgame presser conveyed nothing but sadness and resignation:

The Texans were favored at home today against a winless Vikings team. Houston was gifted an ejection of key Minnesota defender, safety Harrison Smith, and failed to capitalize.

Though he may not be Bill Belichick or Andy Reid, Bill O'Brien has reached the playoffs with a string of bad quarterbacks before he got Deshaun Jackson. However Bill O'Brien is a dismal general manager. The Texans traded their first- and second-round picks in 2021 for offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil and receiver Kenny Stills.

The Texans do have the Cardinals' second-round pick next year, but they could use DeAndre Hopkins and running back David Johnson, whom they traded for that pick, a lot more.

In a normal situation, most people would say that Bill O'Brien probably can't survive this disaster, but he has a strong relationship with Texans owner Cal McNair. It's difficult to peer into that relationship from the outside, but it's there, most notably in McNair's public defense of the Hopkins trade during the offseason.
