World Series Best Bets for Game 5
The Braves are on the verge of a World Series victory over the Astros. They’d ideally like to close it out tonight instead of having to head back to Houston. After a thrilling come-from-behind victory yesterday with the back-to-back home runs, can they close it out or will Houston extend the series?
Framber Valdez makes his second start of the series and his first outing left a lot to be desired. In the series opener, Valdez threw two innings and allowed eight hits, including two home runs, that led to five earned runs on the board for the Braves. To put it nicely, he wasn’t even close to missing bats. The one bright spot for the Astros with Valdez is that if it is anything like the American League Championship Series against Boston, he should put in a great effort. In the second start against the Red Sox, he went eight innings and only allowed one earned run. Maybe he can do that again against the Braves.
For the Braves, Tucker Davidson takes the ball in hopes of closing out the series. The Braves are getting some amazing pitching this series from pretty much everyone that takes the mound for them. Davidson hasn’t pitched since June though so I’d expect a short outing and short leash tonight. He’s never faced the Astros, and that worked out well for the Braves last night. I mentioned it yesterday, but the best left-handed hitting team is the Astros. It didn’t quite work out for them yesterday as they only scored two runs, but I like their chances against a guy that has given up eight earned runs in 20 innings pitched this year.
I’ll take the Astros at -118 and hope they push this to Game 6.
