WNBA Player Props Cash The Same As Any Other Sport

Liberty vs. Fever, 7:00 ET

Liberty vs. Fever, 7:00 ET

Soccer, hockey, NASCAR, golf, cricket, Korean baseball, NBA, college football, NFL, MLB, darts, and the WNBA. What do all of those things have in common? If I bet $110 on one side at -110, I'll win $100 if I'm correct. My point, in case it isn't clear enough: all tickets cash the same regardless of what you're betting on. I'll be upfront here as well, I like the WNBA. I had season tickets to take my daughter to games and it was a great experience. Sure, there is some sloppy play, but they try a hell of a lot harder and are more physical than their male counterparts. I have taken to betting on the sport this season - I'll keep doing that as well as occasionally share plays here instead of just on Twitter.

The New York Liberty handed me my first loss of the young betting season for women's hoops. They won the game, but it was significantly closer than I thought it would be. Last season the Liberty ended up as the runner up in the Finals as they lost to the Aces. It was clear all season that the Liberty and Aces were the clear best teams, but the Liberty really didn't play all that well against the Aces. They still have the MVP, Breanna Stewart, and Sabrina Ionescu. Those two would be a good enough combination, but they also have Jonquel Jones and Courtney Vandersloot to put one of the best starting five on the court in the entire league. Ionescu gained more notarity as she took on Steph Curry in the Sabrina vs. Steph event at the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities. She is a very accomplished shooter and a great player. Stewart will be a handful for Indiana to guard in this game. She is a walking bucket and even with Aliyah Boston, I don't know that the Fever will have an answer for her. She faced them four times last season and scored 45, 18, 11, and 42 points. Only one game was decided by fewer than 10 points, it was a road game for the Liberty, though.

Did I intentionally pick a game with phenom Caitlin Clark involved? Yes, I did. I don't regret it, I know what gets page views. The other part is that this is the only WNBA game, and there are very few MLB games today (I did still put out two plays for tonight if you're interested). The Fever were one of the worst teams in the league the past couple of years, but they have the building blocks/foundation of a good team as they have Boston and Clark to lead the way. I'm sure you can get a ton of information from people much more eloquent than me about Clark's Opening Night performance, so let me just put some information out there for you. In her first game she scored 20 points and hit four threes. Both of those are impressive numbers. She also had two fouls within the first few minutes of the game. She also had 10 turnovers. Her passing game that was amazing in college didn't really seem quite there in the opening game. She also faced a tough defender. The problem is, she will have to face a tough defender tonight in Vandersloot. ‘Sloot (as they call her) is aggressive, plays the passing lanes, and is a good on-ball defender. She is a bit short though at 5’8". Clark has about four inches on her and might be able to get her shot off.

I have to imagine a lot of these women have Fever games circled on the calendar. Clark has gotten all of the attention, and frankly they should want her to perform well because there have already been more opportunities for more players since she started. However, she is likely to get everyone's best effort. That includes the reigning MVP (even if they don't matchup directly). We are taking Breanna Stewart over 33.5 points, rebounds, and assists. She would've cashed this number with points alone in two of the games. She would've fallen short in the other two games, but she only played 26 minutes in one of them. I think she establishes herself in this game. As for the game, I lean toward the over and Liberty but I won't play either of them. I do think Clark goes over 20.5 points in this game as well, but that will probably be a bit sweaty. I think if you bet anything with Clark, you should take under her PRA of 28.5 as well.
