Outkick Bets: NFL and NCAA Picks for Thursday
The NBA season starting and the World Series crashing my television are great, but my friends, it’s still football season and the heat is on. Let’s win some money starting tonight with all these football winnings.
TNF Multi-Player Anytime TD Scorer Parlay (+3131)
First and foremost, this Packers/Cardinals game is beyond me right now. I’m not sure as of writing this if I’ll play any side or the total. The Packers are missing 2 of their top 3 receivers in terms of yardage and the Cardinals are without J.J. Watt and perhaps DeAndre Hopkins so I’m going with a fun prop. I’m going with a nice, pretty, anytime touchdown scorer parlay. Now we should stay aware that these odds are all based on Hopkins playing. He is listed as questionable for tonight's game but remember "questionable" is the lowest of the injury designations so it does not rule him out entirely and he hasn’t missed a game yet despite a few appearances on the injury report. Because of that possibility, i have also listed the current odds for each to score anytime, and I am playing them individually too, but this parlay is the big popper. Deandre Hopkins, Aaron Jones, James Conner and Randall Cobb +3191. Aaron Rodgers will be in need of trustworthy weaponry so why not the guy he desperately wanted back on the team, Randall Cobb (2 TDs) and his trusty tailback Aaron Jones (6 TDs). Cobb is listed at +185 to score while Jones is -115. Quickly on the other side I like Hopkins (-120) here too, who has 5 TDs in 7 games and Cards running back James Conner (+115) who has 6 TDs already.
Troy @ Coastal Carolina, Total OVER 51.5 (-110)
An initial glance at the numbers reveals Troy is 5-2 on the UNDER. That looks pretty darn good, yeah? Let me peel back one more layer of that onion and oh yeah, here it is: context. Four of those 5 unders have come against some of the worst scoring offenses in America. Georgia Southern (102nd), South Carolina (112th), Louisiana-Monroe (109th) and Southern Miss (128th) all hit the under and probably because these teams need a GPS to find the endzone. The other was Liberty (28th), for you curious cats. Coastal is the 3rd ranked scoring team in America and even though they are 3-4 to the OVER, when the number is 55 and below (like tonight) they are 2-0. Coastal might hit the titans themselves in an effort to regain the masculinity lost last week in their first loss of the season.
South Florida +9.5 (-110) @ East Carolina
This is only the second game that East Carolina has been the favorite (-24.5 vs. Charleston Southern). On it’s surface, that’s kind of wild because the off-season was full of bloviators thinking a lot of ECU. South Florida is, well odd. Wrangling them from week-to-week is like herding the wind. They are just 1-2 ATS on the road for starters. This is getting dangerously close to having action on a game just to have action because none of the numbers really scream to either side in the spread or the total. I think ECU is actually better, but not I don’t feel great about laying ten points. These two are equally up and down. Don't get this twisted, ECU could house the Bulls... but probably not.
