NFL Week 9 Best Bets
NFL Week 9 started with a split for us on the Colts and Jets. I actually thought we would get the back-door cover on that last drive. But, the Jets threw three interceptions on the drive. Finally one actually was caught without any penalty or issue and so the drive stalled out. We did coast over the points though. The full slate brings us a side, a player prop, and a play on a total.
Browns vs. Bengals
The Browns are back to being a dysfunctional team on offense. Odell Beckham Jr. has likely played his last game for the team and injuries or injury concerns have derailed the plans for the Browns all year. For the Bengals, they are coming off a bad loss to the Jets. This was likely a situational game where they lost to the Jets because they were looking forward to their home, divisional matchup with the Browns. I don’t think it is much of a secret, the Bengals are good this season. Offensively, the connection between Joe Burrow and Jamaar Chase couldn’t be going any better. Joe Mixon is running the ball effectively, and overall, things are clicking. Even in the loss to the Jets they scored 31 points. I’m taking the Bengals to cover the spread as they bounce back. Bengals -2.5 at -106.
Titans vs. Rams
Cooper Kupp is having an unbelievable season already. He’s at almost 1,000 yards through only eight games and also has ten touchdowns on the season. This week he faces a Tennessee defense that has allowed just two 100-yard receivers this season. One was to Tyler Lockett and the other was to former Titan Corey Davis. Kupp basically needs to get to 100 yards in order to hit his prop this week. In five of his eight games, he’s done just that. I think the ball will be flying in this game and am willing to take Kupp over 98.5 yards at -114. He’s getting too many targets right now to pass up and the connection he has with Stafford is real.
Patriots vs. Panthers
The Panthers started the season with Sam Darnold looking great. Then we quickly realized it couldn’t have been solely Adam Gase’s fault that the Jets sucked the last couple of years. He was benched a couple weeks ago but returned this week to play well enough to guide the Panthers to a victory over the equally brutal Falcons. The Patriots have Bill Belichick, that alone might be enough to beat the Panthers and keep their offense struggling. The one bright spot for the Panthers is that they have a young defense that is pretty good. Both teams should have a difficult time scoring, even if they move the ball, I don’t see either of them racking up touchdowns. I’ll play the under 41 points at -110.
