NFL Best Bets for Week 2
Week 1 had its fair share of surprises, and now we had a great game to start Week 2 with the Washington Football Team beating the New York Giants. Let’s see what we can find on a side, a total, and a player prop.
Bengals at Bears
Joe Burrow looks great in his return from knee surgery. In his first game back, the threw 261 yards and two touchdowns. All of the drama around Jamarr Chase being able to catch or not being able to catch was cast aside fairly quickly as he hauled in five receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown. The other star for the Bengals was Joe Mixon who had 33 touches for 150 yards and a touchdown. The Bengals were able to come back and beat the Vikings, who I feel are a superior team to the Bears. The Bears were on the west coast playing against Matt Stafford and the Rams. Overall, their defense looked older and overmatched, but make no mistake, the Rams are one of the best NFC teams. Offensively, the Bears remain uncreative and lack playmakers… or at least a talented enough quarterback to do get the ball to their best playmakers. I’ll take the Bengals, and since they are getting points, I’ll take them (+2.5) at -118. There isn’t enough juice on the moneyline in my opinion to play it without the points.
Broncos vs. Jaguars
Back-to-back east coast games does not make for a very friendly start to the Denver season. However, the first game was against the Giants and fairly easy. The second game is against the Jaguars who haven’t really every caused much issue for anyone in years. The Jaguars defense just surrendered 37 points to the Texans. The Broncos, known for their defense, should do a great job against the run, but I expect the Jaguars to score some garbage time points. With a posted total of 45.5, I think this game is an over. Teddy Bridgewater looked great for the Broncos and should be able to put up 28+ points on the Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence should be able to get between 14 and 18 points. The total opened at a low 43 and has been bet up. I think we have a couple of points to go until I’d hesitate (probably around 48). Play the over 45.5 at -106.
49ers vs. Eagles
You know who looked great last week? Jalen Hurts. Hurts had a great game against a beaten and battered Falcons defensive unit, and now faces the 49ers. Normally, I’d steer clear of this because I think the 49ers are a better team, but I like that this is the second road trip game for the 49ers after starting in Detroit. Although the 49ers have a solid defense, I like Devonta Smith to get over 50.5 receiving yards. In his first game with Hurts, he was targeted eight times and caught six of them for 71 yards and a score. This was in a blowout. In a tighter game, I expect him to be targeted even more often. Most impressive to me though was his longest reception was only 19 yards. Meaning that he averaged 11.8 yards. I think he will get over the 50.5 yards at -114.
