NCAAF Best Bets for Wednesday, December 29, 2021
We had three games yesterday when the day started that we had bets on. Then suddenly at the last possible second, one game was canceled. We still ended up cashing 3-0 on the day with two wins coming on the Golden Gophers game. Let’s keep it rolling.
Maryland vs. Virginia Tech
This isn’t exactly an exciting matchup, as both teams are just .500 with a 6-6 record. But, what that should mean is these two teams are set for a pretty even and close matchup. One area of edge to me is that the Maryland passing game should be better. Neither team has been in great form in their past few games, but they both should’ve had time to work on what they needed to in order to keep this game close. I expect both offenses to be superior to the defenses. I’m going to play the over 55.5 on this game at -104. I would love to play a side and do lean towards Maryland, but it isn’t a strong enough play for me.
Iowa State vs. Clemson
I don’t particularly like either team in this matchup. I don’t think Clemson is good enough to be ranked in the top 25 of the country, but I also don’t think Iowa State is any good. The better team is likely Clemson though and it surprises me that they are just a -2.5 favorite. I think that’s the only way to look in this game. Clemson has won their last five games, and seven of their last eight. I think they are a more well-rounded football team than Iowa State. The Cyclones can keep this close if Brock Purdy is accurate today with his passes. Clemson, though, should set up a gameplan for stopping the air attack. I’m going to take Clemson at -2.5.
Oregon vs. Oklahoma
This has the potential to be the best game of the day. Oregon comes into this bowl game with some very good wins on the season, and a couple, more recent, losses. For Oklahoma, most of this game will be focused on their quarterback Caleb Williams to see just how impressive and successful he could be. The books don’t expect much defense in this one at all with the total set at 63. So, who wins this one in a shootout? My best guess is that Oklahoma wins, but I don’t think this game will be a blowout. Instead I think both teams take turns scoring so I’m going to take Oregon to cover this game with the 7 points. Oregon +7. If you want to sprinkle the moneyline, I wouldn’t blame you at all.
